THOUGHTS

Rocks, pebbles, minerals – as many lesser or greater miracles of nature.
Sometimes they brightly glisten in the stark light, at other one can barely notice
the silvery-grey glimmer on the bottom of the brook.
One picks them up, fondles them, one analyzes the details, the colors, shapes, lines,
and then one puts everything back together according to another set of rules.
And thus, out of the borrowed traits the composition is born,
which is more than sheer re-presentation, for it renders not only the impression
of the drifting stream and of the bottom of the river bed,
but also bears the fingerprint of the artist. However, this is not yet a tapestry.
In order to become one, it still needs lots of threads running alongside each other,
mutually building up, braiding together.
There are strands so fine one cannot make them out,
and yet, they vibrate and it is they that bring the surface to life.
This is how the textile is born, this is how the dialog of threads and stuffs
brings about texture, structure, fine transition.

This is the lesson that rocks, pebbles, minerals had taught me
and this is what I would like to show you too. Take it with love.
